The Lady Bulldogs dispatched the Lady Eagles 25-13, 25-13, 25-17 in a hard fought match.
"They were the complete package, a lot of height, they played well together and were very aggressive," said Coach Hooper, "They were very well balanced you can tell they've played a lot of club ball."
The Lady eagles were kept in the match by Right Front Hitter Riane Garcia who came through several times with key blocks and an effective serve which helped to keep the Bulldogs at bay.
"She is our senior captain who has been with us for three years on varsity. She's our team leader who serves extremely well when we need quick points," added Hooper-Gloria in reference to well placed serves and a couple of aces which were impossible for Mc High to return, "She's our go to girl and lead blocker/hitter when we need a key kill or stop."
Another pleasant surprise in this match was the play of Dubelza Galvan, the Lady Eagle Middle Blocker who has stepped it up for the squad in key situations, "Dubelza helped us out when we moved her up from JV at mid-season at the beginning of the second round and she's helped us out on block."
Middle Blocker Lysandra Gonzalez was another standout performer for Eagle Pass on this night, "She's our small middle blocker. She was in there on a couple of key blocks that kept us in the match."
Kiana Ruiz, the Lady Eagle Libero was also commended, "She had some good digs in the back row off powerful hits by McAllen."
"We defended ourselves well against a much bigger team," concluded coach, "We had a few opportunities to kill the ball and we took them. Our serve helped us stay in the ballgame."
