"Paloma was on fire with her driver," said Head Coach Pat Hernandez, "She hit fifteen of eighteen fairways and she was driving the ball 180-200 yards. Her second shots came through for her. She was determined to go otu and execute and she did. She made a name for herself in Laredo and is a true competitor. Size has nothing to do with it."
Teammate Julianna Vasquez shot an opening day 90 to go along with her 93 on Day 2 to place second.
Other participants were Andrea De Alba who shot 111 on Day 1 and 110 on Day 2, Victoria Santana-Carrasco who shot 125 on Day 1 and 109 on Day 2 and Jessica Valdez who shot 123 on Day 1 and 119 on Day 2.
The boys are Adrian Alvarez, Daigo Matsuoka and Alan Ruiz. Hernandez is assisted by Juan Antonio Tovar.
This was a great tournament for all of us," stated Coach Hernandez, "We worked hard for nine weeks on the basic fundamentals with special emphasis on the short game and putting. It paid off and the girls were able to bring 1st Place home." She added that Casablanca is a short course and was in much better condition.
"Our weight and conditioning has shown positive outcomes. These kids have skill, but my emphasis was also to instill the proper mindset to go and compete."
"These kids now know that through hard work, persistence, repetition and a positive attitude anything is possible."
