The 2014 Southwest Regional Babe Ruth Tournament has been one chock full of exciting baseball action and an incredible amount of offense as Scooter Evans and the Texas Tri-County All Stars had all they could handle from Nathan Ruiz, Makayla Parks, Drake Cantú and The Lamesa Tornadoes on Sunday in an 11-8 shootout.

Jerrette Brown was on the hill for Tri County against Ruiz, Lamesa's Ace in the Hole, but the Red & Black struck first with four runs on two hits by Brown and Austin Wick.

Ruiz doubled and scored on an error in the bottom of the first.

Evans got on on an error and came in to score on a base hit by Ryan Hermes to make it 5-1 Tri-County.

Jordan Derington walked and scored, Ruiz hit his second of three big doubles on the game and Eric Garcia singled and scored to make the score 5-4 as they battled the entire game, but Tri County exploded for four runs on three hits by Cory Heger, a triple by Scooter Adams and another hit by Hermes.

Elijah Garcia singled and scored, Derington walked and scored, Eric Garcia singled and scored as did Drake Cantú in the final frames but it was a little too little a little too late for Lamesa and Tri-County moved on to face Eagle Pass in an afternoon matinee on Monday after Isaac Gonzalez' Cardiac Kids pulled off a 7-6 stunner against the Bryant, Arkansas All-Stars on Sunday behind the big-time hitting of Rey Rey Mendoza who singled in the eighth inning.  A triple by Brandon Villaseñor brought in Mendoza with what would be the winning run of the game which was tied 6-6 at the time and Mendoza, who came in in relief of Francisco Ballones in the fifth, got Bryant out in the bottom of the eighth to preserve the one-run lead.

It took ten innings to decide who would be left standing in the elimination game between Bryant, Arkansas and Saint Charles, Louisiana in a game for the ages as it was 1-1 in a battle between Ethan West and Logan Grant.

After it all was said and done, Bryant came away with the "W" and faced Nederland on Monday.
