It came down to this.  Both Eagle Pass representatives duked it out for the right to advance to Sectionals and it set up a game for the ages to determine who would move on.

Hundreds of friends, family and baseball fans came out in droves to see the clash between the Eagle Pass American League 10 Year-old All Stars and the Eagle Pass American League 9 Year-old All Stars. One game for all the marbles!

Matthew Elizondo was given the ball and would have to hold off a strong offense to get it done for his squad, and Ramon Salinas got things started off on the right foot with a base hit, but Elizondo would settle down and get some help from his "D" to get him out of the first with a fly ball by Manuel Melchor to right fielder Juan Martinez then two put outs including a fine play by third baseman Derek Ruiz to get Fabian Velasquez.

The 9 Year-olds showed immediately why they deserve to be in the mix here on this night exploding for six big runs in the bottom-half of the first inning off of starter Ryan Rodriguez as Luis Kancheff led things off with a base hit followed by a one-out walk to Ruiz and a hit by Jose Duran.  Aiden Lopez got on on an error, then consecutive hits by Alan Vielma, Elizondo and Martinez put the 9 Year-olds up 6-0 early.

Ryan Rodriguez and Roger Menchaca would not be denied and they came through with a single and a double respectively followed by a base hit by JJ Garza to pull within four in the top of the second.

Derek Ruiz got his first hit of the game followed by an RBI double by Alan Vielma made the score 7-1 after two complete innings of play.

In the top of the third, Salazar got on on an error then Velasquez base hit as did Rodriguez and Menchaca driving in three more runs for their cause making the score 7-4.

The 10 Year-olds added two more in the fourth on the spikes of Salinas and Alan Jimenez, but it was a little too little and a little too late and the Eagle Pass American Little League will be represented by the 9 and Under Stars.

They began their journey last night at 8:00 in Fredricksburgh against McAllister.  Results were not available at press time.
