Former fireballing CC Winn right-hander Jose Rendon has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American Team.

Rendon, a sophomore on the Galveston College Whitecaps, amassed an incredible 11-1 record this season in the NJCAA Region XIV Conference South Zone and was also unanimously named All-Conference along with battery-mate, catcher Jose Garcia.

Rendon had an 11-1 record to go along with his 10-2 record in 2013 and with his ERA of 1.89, he had one of the lowest in the nation, hence the All-American nod this year.

We recall the dominant performances Rendon delivered for the CC Winn Mavericks en route to a Regional Semi-Final against the Corpus Christi Carroll Tigers in 2011 and the valiant effort the Mavs put forth against a highly touted Sharyland Rattler squad in 2012.

"I would like to thank Coach (Chris) Joblin and Coach (Cory) Holley for having the confidence in me and encouraging me to compete at this level," said Rendon.

The Eagle Pass News Gram salutes Jose, his parents Luisa and Jose Rodolfo, his sister Laura brothers Rudy and Pepe, Coach Joblin, his Whitecaps teammates and former teammates and coaches on this amazing accomplishment.

They're only confirming what we already knew JR, that when it comes to baseball, Jose Rendon, Eagle Pass, Texas and the CC Winn Mavericks mean business!
