The Texas Girls Coaches Association has named one of our own, Eagle Pass High School's Sandra Selina Mendoza, to their prestigious AAAAA All-State Softball Team.

Mendoza has been a standout performer on both offense and defense for her entire career garnering District 29-AAAAA MVP honors three consecutive years which has never before been accomplished in Lady Eagle softball history.

"The way you work is what you get out of it," said her Head Coach Coca Ruiz, "She deserves everything she's getting and more.  That's why she's going to play and be successful at the next level because of this level of commitment."

Mendoza reached an unheard of achievement her sophomore year by hitting an incredible .789, a feat that had not been reached in twenty years.

Sandra was also the leading base stealer in the State of Texas after swiping a total of 52 bases this season.

She also ended up in the Top 12 in the state in runs scored with 42.

"She's one of the best players I've had the pleasure to coach and there's a lot more in her and she's ready to explode!"

Mendoza will attend The University of Texas at Arlington in the fall and the Eagle Pass News Gram salutes her and her parents Tina and Reynol Mendoza who have always been there to support her in all of her academic and athletic endeavors.
