Chris Perez threw a gem and the Eagle offense was able to get to both Rica Gonzalez and Jesus Fraga to come away with a 6-2 victory over the CC Winn Mavericks at the Student Activity Center Friday night.

The Mavericks were able to jump out to an early 2-1 lead when Brandon Sanchez drew a walk followed by a base hit by Isaac Banda scoring Sanchez.

Jesus Medellin came through later in the inning with a base hit of his own scoring Banda and the Mavericks were up in the third.

It was in the fifth inning that the Eagles loaded the bases for catcher Diego Gaona who got a hold of  a Gonzalez delivery to drive home three runs with a double putting the Eagles 3-2.  Gaona's courtesy runner would come in to score on an errant throw by the catcher to go up 5-2 after four and a half.

Eagle standout Mando Lopez would come through with two on in the sixth against reliever Jesus Fraga who missed most of the season after being hit by a line drive at the 2014 Border Olympics against Reagan in February.  Lopez hit a long single to right center to drive in one run, but a strong relay throw from center fielder Jonathan Villarreal to Juan Garza to Raul Martinez at third got a streaking Kevin Chisum to end the threat and the game's scoring.

"It was a good game," stated Head Coach Reynol Mendoza, "Their pitchers did a good job.  Our hitters maintained a good approach by not chasing any bad pitches."

The Eagles will use this as a tune up for their upcoming Bi-District matchup against the Mission Sharyland Rattlers which after last year's amazing series is sure to be a veritable train wreck.
