In other results, all three 800m qualifiers Jose Teran, Victor Garcia and Javier Guevara all advanced with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes respectively (1:57.70, 1:57.72 and 1:57.74) coming in a photo finish.
Louis Cortez will also be traveling to Heroes Stadium in San Antonio on April 26th as he turned in a 50.8 400 meter second place performance.
The 800 meter relay of Cortez, RJ Valdez, Rich Gonzalez and DeShawn Franklin qualified with a 1:30.07 fourth place finish.
The 1600 meter relay team of RJ Valdez, Victor Garcia, Jose Teran and Cortez placed 3rd with a 3:24.65.
Head Track Coach Roger Olivas also informed The News Gram that Hector Alvarez just missed qualifying in the 3200 meters with a 9:46.83 fifth place finish, however, in a late development, one of the top four runners has pulled out of the Region IV Meet, so Alvarez will take his place on the starting mark at Heroes this coming Saturday.
Andres Lopez placed 8th in the 110 meter high hurdles (16.3), Martin Lopez placed 7th in the 1600 meter run (4:29.78), the relay team of DeShawn Franklin, Jose Valero, Rich Gonzalez and Mark Venegas placed 7th with a 44.12, RJ Valdez and Jose Valero placed 5th and 6th respectively in the 200 meter dash, Alex Mason placed 7th in the discus throw with a toss of 123' 0" as did Iram Gaytan in the shot put with a throw of 42' 3 3/4" and RJ Valdez placed 8th in the high jump with a 5' 8".
