The CC Winn Mavericks were in action on Tuesday against the Laredo LBJ Wolves and notched their second victory in a row 9-2 at the EPISD Baseball Complex behind timely hitting, quality defense and very good pitching.

Jesus Medellin was on the hill for the Mavs on this night and he was relieved by Jonathan Ramirez. Both pitcher sheld their own against the purple and gold clad visitors holding them to only two runs on three hits.

The Mavericks scored one in the first on hits by Juan Garza and Ricardo Gonzalez, then in the bottom of the third they had four runs on four hits by Isaac Banda, Gonzalez, Raul Martinez and Brandon Sanchez to go up 5-0 and they never looked back.

On Friday, the Mavericks hosted the United South Panthers who did not expect the welcome they would get from starting pitcher Ricardo Gonzalez as the Maverick ace mowed down seven- teen Panthers by way of strike out, an amazing feat in a one-hitter where the sole hit allowed in the entire game came in the form of a home run by catcher Ray Miranda in the top of the seventh inning with the Mavericks up 9-0.

Needless to say Gonzalez was in a serious pitching zone and proceeded to strike out the United South half of the ninth to give the Mavericks a 9-1 victory.
