Point guard Bree Carreon led the Eagles with 14 points and one assist. The Eagles got 10 points, four rebounds and a steal from Glenda Garza, eight points, two rebounds, a steal and a block from Sophie Gomez, seven points and three rebounds from senior Martha Rodriguez, six points, two rebounds and two steals from Yuliana Velasquez, four points, a rebound, a steal and a block from senior Kassie Saucedo, two points from Daniela Garza, and one point, a rebound and two steals from Stacey Pacheco.
The Lady Mavs were led by the speedy, silky-smooth Stephanie Flores, who scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds and two steals. Also for the Mavs, power forward Jennifer Rodriguez had six points and six rebounds, Angie Espinosa had four points and two rebounds, Alissa Lopez had three points and
two rebounds, Valerie Casares had three points, Dulce Fernandez had two points and a rebound, Cassandra Flores had one point and one steal, and Beatriz Benitez and Taylor Rodriguez had two points apiece.
Coach Ruben Besa was proud of the strong effort by his Lady Eagles in beating their rivals, the Mavs.
Coach Enrique Pang also extolled the competitiveness of his Lady Mavs, who kept the score close until the third quarter.
