Henry Montalvo, Eagle Pass' premier fastpitch softball coach, made an appearance on CSN-TV's Alianza Deportiva on Wednesday.
Montalvo has been and continues to work with individual athletes working on the intricate mechanics of their respective pitching motion.
He has definitely gotten the art of pitching down to a science through the use of video analysis, working with pitchers in various intervals and schedules and good ol' fashioned repetition.
Fabulous pitchers who have come and gone through both Eagle Pass High School and CC Winn High School ranks, both perennial playoff contenders in the state of Texas, have attended HERO such as Kat De La Cruz, Britanny Perez, both of this year's starting pitchers for the Lady Eagles and Lady Maverick softball programs, Krystal Contreras, Alex Rodriguez his own daughter Lizzy Montalvo and many, many more.
He has also worked with Team USA coaching great Mike Candrea of the University of Arizona, Bill Edwards of Hofstra University, Clint Meyers of Auburn, Heather Carr of the University of Washington, Karen Weekly of the University of Tennessee and Kelly Perez of UCLA. He's also met Kat Osterman, Monica Abbott, Natasha Watley, Jessica Mendoza, and Lovianne Jung all members of Team USA.
Sherri Kempf, the current commissioner of the NPF is one of his latest great mentors and he wants any and all young ladies who wish to dedicate a significant amount of time to work on this craft to have them come by HERO to be the next great pitcher in Eagle Pass.
Montalvo will have a weekly segment entitled "The Art of the Fastpitch the HERO Way" on Alianza Deportiva and what better time to start this new tradition than this week as both EP High and Winn High begin their respective softball and baseball seasons.
