News Gram cross country report

     Both C.C. Winn and Eagle Pass High Schools have a good crop of cross country runner who recently competed at the District 29-5A meet held at the local golf course on Saturday, October 19.

MAVERICKS CROSS COUNTRY

     Representing the Lady Mavericks in the varsity event were Bertha Villarreal (twenty-fourth with a time of 20:52), and Paola Garcia-Zua Zua (forty-second, 24:41). 

     Competing in the varsity boys event were Vincent De Leon (thirty-ninth, 19:10), Jefthe Gonzalez (forty-first, 19:30), and Jose Lopez (forty-third, 21:56).  

     Valentin Limon won the junior varsity boys event with a time of 15:58. 

     Also running in the j.v. boys competition were Gerardo Huerta (forty-fourth, 19:16), Miguel Rendon (forty-fifth, 19:17), Alex Longoria (seventy-first, 21:22), and Chris Rodriguez (seventy-ninth, 23:23). 

     Running for the Lady Mavericks in the junior varsity girls competition were Sabrina Hernandez (fifty-sixth, 27:57), Amanda Gonzalez (fifty-seventh, 29:14), and Paloma Garcia-Zua Zua (sixtieth, 33:59).

EAGLES CROSS COUNTRY

     The Lady Eagles junior varsity girls cross country team came in fifth overall with a score of 134. 

     Running in that race were Brianna Vielma (tenth with a time of 22:06), Alexia Sanchez (twenty-first, 22:31), Denise Moreno (thirty-fourth, 23:38), April Flores (thirty-seventh, 23:56), Ana Ramos (forty-seventh, 24:58), Astrid Chong (fiftieth, 25:42), Gabriella Martinez (fifty-third, 27:20), Paola Guevara (fifty-fourth, 27:27), Larissa Alvarez (fifty-fifth, 27:46), Dayna Garza (fifty-eighth, 29:39), and April  Gutierrez (fifty-ninth, 32:32).

     EPHS’s junior varsity boys cross country team finished second with a time of 31.

     Running in this event were Jose Teran (third with a time of 16:43), Oscar Mendoza (fifth, 17:01), Arturo Valdez (thirteenth, 17:40), Diego Solis (fourteenth, 17:42), Gabriel Villasenor (sixteenth, 17:45), Ramses Betancourt (nineteenth, 17:58), Mauricio Lopez (twentieth 18:00), Joshua Smith (twenty-sixth, 18:19), Abraham Martinez twenty-eighth, 18:23),Jesus De la Garza (thirty-fifth 18:40), Jacob Smith (forty-seventh, 19:27), Javier Perez (forty-ninth, 19:29), Hector Rodriguez (fiftieth, 19:35), Leroy Correa (fifty-fifth, 19:51), Jose Montelongo (fifth-ninth, 20:03), Jesus Solis (sixty-first 20:11), Javier Tapia (sixty-fourth, 20:42), Edgar Gonzalez (sixty-sixth, 20:59), Enrique Hernandez (sixty-seventh, 21:03), Arnulfo Rivrea (sixty-eighth, 21:07), Arnulfo Rivera (sixty-eighth, 21:07), Enrique Rodriguez (seventieth, 21:21), Kaleb Kypuros (seventy-second, 21:58), Jonathan Hernandez (seventy-third, 22:24), Jesus Jimenez (seventy-fifth, 22:37), David Vielma (seventy-sixth, 22:46), Edmundo Perez (seventy-seventh, 22:49), Pablo Garcia (eighty-first, 24:10), Guillermo Lopez (eighty-second, 24:22), Guillermo Velez (eighty-third, 25:36), Christian Martinez (eighty-fourth, 25:57), Salomon Abraham (eighty-fifth, 26:05), Hirom Alarcon (eighty-sixth, 26:07), and Robert Riojas (eighty-seventh, 28:36).
