The Eagle Pass Eagles squared off in a showdown for the ages as they both bolted out to a 16-16 tie at the half after the Longhorns won the toss and elected to receive to only gain three in their opening possession and proceeded to three and out giving the Eagles the ball on the 43. DeShawn Franklin broke off a significant run which took him deep into Longhorn territory to the one yard line, however a holding call brought the play back. The Eagles would not be denied on this night and they fought their way back to the on where Ty Chisum was able to haul it in for the initial Eagle score, but it would be called back by the officials for illegal procedure. Chisum then handed off to Franklin who headed for the right side of the United Defense when he handed it off to RJ Ruiz who showed some passing skills hitting Chisum in the end zone for the third Eagle TD, but this TOO was called back on a personal foul and brought back to the 16 yet again.

This would demoralize the best of them, but it did not dissuade our boys and Chisum proceeded to earn the TD the traditional way on a 16 yard strike to Ruiz for the true initial score of the game. 7-0 Eagles after the Jerry Gonzalez kick. The Longhorns answered with a score of their own on a pass to Eric Corona from QB Derek Esparza followed by a safety on the ensuing Eagle drive on an intentional grounding call in the end zone, 9-7 United. The Longhorns struck again at the end of the first quarter on a keeper by Esparza to put the longhorns up 16-7, but a fine punt by Kevin Chisum put the Longhorns back at the one yard line and the Eagles managed to sack Esparza in the end zone to get those two points back as Iram Gaytan was credited with the sack to make it 16-9. Chisum found RJ Ruiz yet again to tie the game just before the half and would not return to the game due to illness. It was in the second half when after two United scores, another one yard QB sneak and a pass from Esparza to Zachary Williams that gutsy Aaron Morales came in to take over the Eagle Offense after seeing limited playing time due to injury when a Longhorn defender came in low on Morales effectively ending his night at the helm. While this caused the first of two confrontations between EP & United players on the field which resulted in two Eagle player getting ejections and one Longhorn player receiving the same, a 15 yard gain and a first down for now Joey Flores, the freshman signal-caller who came in against one of the most storied teams in our district, when an Eagle receiver got some payback on that same Longhorn defender which caused the first true bench-clearing confrontation. On the next play, Flores was intercepted and the Longhorn defender raced 88 yards for the apparent touchdown, but an illegal block in the back caused another ruckus on the field and also caused officials to call the game with 2:09 remaining in the game with the score United 30, Eagle Pass 16.
