The Mavericks went head to head with the Edison Bears, a good team that has traditionally been very successful in their district play and in playoffs.
The game marked a new beginning for this core of Juniors that saw some success last year as sophomores. Leading the crew are a pair of seasoned seniors - Erik Ramos - Goalkeeper and Hugo Sanchez - Defender. Great passing and team work led to all three scores in the game as Daniel Rodriguez scored 2 goals and Sergio Prieto scored one.
Great play at the middle positions by Obie Garcia, Victor Herrera and Jesus Perez secured control of the game with their ball control and great passing.
The defenders did a great job keeping a clean sheet, the only score for the Edison Bears came on a scramble in front of the goal when freshman goalkeeper Iker Limon when down with an injury in the closing seconds of the match.
