This season they not only hope to get back to that door, they want to kick it down and reap the spoils Eagle Pass Baseball has never done before.
We caught up with Coach Reynol Mendoza who gave us a preview of the upcoming season.
This season we have a special group of players that include 12 seniors, 2 juniors, and 5 sophomores,” said the ball coach, “We’re coming into the season with high expectations. Our schedule is the toughest we’ve ever had. We schedule games against tough opponents, an “iron sharpens iron” mentality. Our perspective is to play the toughest teams possible to help us prepare for our highly competitive District opponents. I want our players to experience difficult and pressure situations that will hone their skills and take them to another level.”
“We play in 3 of the best tournaments in Texas. We’ll be at the Border Olympics in Laredo, the San Antonio/Comal ISD Classic, and the Kerrville Tivy Invitational. The competition at all of those tournaments will be impeccable.”
The Eagles’ non-district games include highly ranked teams like #8 San Antonio Johnson, #12 Calallen, #9 Central Catholic, and #17 Cornerstone.
“Competing against teams of this caliber will help us prepare for the stiff competition in District 30-6A. Laredo and Del Río don’t fall short of high caliber baseball and they are always ready for us. Our district opponents are Laredo United, Alexander, United South, LBJ, and Del Rio. Our 6-team district is going to be tougher than it looks. With only 10 district games on our schedule the margin for error is very thin. Our boys will be ready to play at their utmost potential and will leave it all on the field. Our team doesn’t hope to win, we prepare to win!”#eaglebaseball #protectthetradition.
