No one would deny that this CC Winn Maverick Basketball Team is a special group of kids. A combination of talent and experience has Coach Paulo Valero excited about the promise of a deep run into the playoffs and our Player Profile subject is a big part of what Coach is trying to get done this year.

A combination of speed, ball handling ability three-point shooting and an uncanny olfactory sense for scoring, this player will be an important cog in the Maverick scoring machine and he hopes to lead The Silver and Black Attack into hallowed ground this season. 

I give you CC Winn Maverick shooting guard Ryan Rodriguez.

First of all congratulations for being selected Player Of The Week by your Coach. What can you tell our readers about last week's game and your performance?

Last weeks game against Uvalde was probably the best game I’ve played during the season so far, I accumulated 17 points which is my season high. After we took the dub we were on our way to the Poteet tournament, my performance on the offensive end was okay but my defense picked up for what I was lacking on offense. We ended up winning the whole tournament which gave me and the team a huge confidence booster.

What position do you play? What's your jersey number?

I play shooting guard, and my jersey number is 15.

What are your parents names? Siblings?

My parents names are Lily Castillo, and Alfred Rodriguez, I have 4 siblings.

Who do you look up to? Who are your heroes?

I look up to my dad, he really provides the support I need in order to succeed in life, and my hero is my mom she never ceases to amaze me with how great of a person she is.

What's your 

career highlight?

My career highlight was my junior year against Southwest Legacy when I ended up scoring 4 threes in the last quarter to keep us up.

Who's your favorite 

college team?

My favorite college team is UT.

Favorite NBA team?

My favorite NBA team is the San Antonio Spurs.

What are your first memories of playing basketball?

I remember when I first touched a basketball and knew this was the game for me, my first time playing I was constantly making threes and it continued from there.

"Who's your favorite athlete and why?" The sport does not matter. 

My favorite athlete is Stephen Curry,  he inspires me to shoot the three ball, no matter what the circumstance is.

Offense or defense, it's up to you, give me your favorite play during a game? What is it called?

My favorite play is G.

Why do you like this kind of play, what do you do? What's your 

responsibility?

I like this play because it is designed for me to shoot the ball or drive in and dish out to my post, it allows a opportunity for us to score every time.

Any hobbies?

My hobbies are gaming, and playing basketball

Favorite food?

My favorite food are the nuggets from Chick-fil-a.

What makes a good teammate?

A good teammate needs a good attitude towards the game, coaches, and their fellow teammates.

your Coach.

Our coach developed a great program which let us succeed in what we’re trying to accomplish, he never ignores our opinions and is always asking how he can get better as our coach, that too me is all you can ask for in a great coach.

Cardi, Lil Uzi, Bruno Mars.

What advice would you give a kid playing basketball for the first time?

Never give up on what you’re trying to accomplish, if you’re already good get better, there’s always something you can get add to your bag.
