The Strength In Numbers mantra that the CC Winn Mavericks have adopted for the year paid off as 12 Mavericks were able to score and hold SA Memorial to 30 points.

The suffocating full-court  defense led by Cesar Juarez and Josue Jimenez was stingy for 32 minutes.

Saulo Ruiz led the Mavericks off the bench with eight strong points while Chuy Rodriguez led the charge with nine.

The Winn Maverick Boys woke up early Thursday Morning and were on the bus by 5:30 AM heading down IH-35 for the Annual Poteet Classic. The boys were matched up with 4 guaranteed games with the potential for a 5th.

Up first for the Mavericks were the host Poteet Aggies. The Process came out a bit slow trying to get their legs back but after a back and forth first quarter they were able to secure the lead and never look back. Although Poteet continued to battle throughout the game, a mid 4th quarter run put it out of reach and then the reserves were able to finish off the game on a 10-0 run. Brothers Josue and Jovan Jimenez led the Mavericks with 16 and 15 points each while Chuy Rodriguez, Angel Gomez and Cesar Juarez finished with six each.

The Mavericks took a three hour break and were back in action against Orange Grove and their speciality 2-1-2 defense.

The shots weren't falling early for the black and silver, but after some adjustments, the Process was able to get it going by getting the ball inside.

The game was a back and forth battle but overall the difference was the full court pressure the silver and black were able to put it on Orange Grove throughout the entire 32 minutes.

It was a very physical game but the conditioning of the Mavericks showed up big as this was their second game and Orange Grove first of the day. The Mavericks took their 4 point lead in the 4th to 12 pts in the span of 45 seconds with several key 3's by Ryan Rodriguez. Ángel Gómez battled the entire game inside along with fellow posts #5 Robert Zapata and The Jimenez Brothers.

The Mavericks finished the game on an impressive run and guaranteed their berth in the gold bracket with one game still left to be played .

The Mavericks took on The Alice Coyotes on Friday and awaited their next opponent in the gold bracket, but results were not available at press time.
