What maybe not everyone knows is that our Player Profile subject comes from a historic long line of athletes. His grandfather Arandu was a highly successful wrestler on the Mexican circuit and even had a stint in a southern circuit back in the 80's and early nineties. I was fortunate enough to work with his boys at Ray Darr Elementary, Home of The original Mavericks, where our fight song was written in 1991.
With names such as Arandu Jr., El Lobo and El Principe Aries, his father and uncles are also fearless high-flying 'tecnicos' who fly off turnbuckles, kick gluteus maximus and take names. So his approach to football is definitely understood.
I give you CC Winn Maverick Running Back Arandu Pace.
First of all congratulations for being selected Player Of The Week by your Coach. What can you tell our readers about last week's game and your performance? Thank you Sir. We gave it our best every play til the whistle blew. We just didn't get the results we wanted.
What position
do you play?
I play Running Back. What's your jersey number? I'm #20.
Who do you look up to? Who are your heroes?
I look up to my grandpa. (That's the man) He's always giving me the best advice.
What's your career highlight?
A 70 yard kickoff return against Laredo Cigarroa (It's definitely no surprise after watching him mow down Hornets).
Who's your favorite NFL player?
Darren Sproles (And his favorite wrestler is El Vikingo Jr. I like Alberto Del Rio, Mil Mascara's nephew LoL, my son met him once).
Favorite NFL team?
The Dallas Cowboys.
College team?
The Alabama Crimson Tide.
Offense or defense, it's up to you, give me your favorite play
the way it's called in the huddle. Toss.
Why do you like this play, what do you do? What's your responsibility?
I simply get a quick pitch and hit the outside as quick as possible. I'm best in the open field but I'm not afraid to attack the middle. I'm not afraid of a little contact.
What makes a good teammate?
A teammate who's always trying to make their team get better on and off the field.
What's on your playlist?
Rock. (A man after my own heart.)
What do you think of when you hear our fight song?
When I hear the fight song I know that the Maverick Nation is ready to put on a show.
How does it feel to come out of the tunnel?
Full of adrenaline, and ready to be on the field and do me. Do what I do.
