When you think of close games, many times it comes down to a point or two, and the player you will most depend on is your kicker. I had a very detailed conversation with our Player Profile Series subject about this and I've spoken to his coach, Coca Ruiz about this.

In Super Bowl XLIV, The New Orleans Saints did something that no other team has ever done, kick an on side kick at the beginning of the second half against one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time Peyton Manning.

The decision was made at halftime between Teenage Wasteland and Pinball Wizard of The Who's halftime performance. Coach Sean Payton made that decision and told his team they were going to run "Ambush" and that they better recover that kick.

Well it worked and President Barack Obama said that he's made a lot of difficult decisions in his tenure, but never calling an on side kick in the middle of a Super Bowl.

Our Profile Series subject may have to do just this on Friday against the Marshall Rams to get us to the next round of the playoffs.

I give you Eagle Pass Eagle Placekicker Alan Losoya.

What can you tell our readers about last week's game and your performance? Last week's game was very important to not only me but the team because it secured our spot in the playoffs and allowed us to bring back a playoff game to Eagle Pass. It was a difficult game because Del Rio had speed so I had two extra point kicks blocked but I was able to make up for it with other plays.

What position

do you play?

I am a kicker for the EPHS Eagles Varsity Football team.

jersey number?

My name is Alan Losoya. My jersey number is #80.

Who do you look up to? Who are your heroes?

I look up to and admire my parents, they've pushed me to become the person I am. They taught me to be humble and to always remember where I come from. It doesn't matter how hard the situation is,you never stop trying to achieve your goals.

What's your career highlight?

My career highlight is the 34 yard Field Goal against Cornerstone.

Who's your favorite NFL player?

My favorite NFL player is Justin Tucker.

Favorite NFL team?

The Baltimore Ravens.

College team?

LSU.

Why do you like this play, what do you do? What's your responsibility?

I don't have a favorite play but as the kicker, I get the opportunity to make the extra points (field goals and the kickoffs), and every point counts towards the total score, which makes a big difference for me and my teammates. I really love feeling the pressure.

What makes a good teammate?

A good teammate is the one that supports you even though you didn't have a good game and pushes you to get better.

What's on your playlist?

There's literally every type of music in my playlist, but obviously there are more Spanish songs than other types of songs.

What do you think of when you hear our fight song?

At first, I get kind of nervous, but then I realized that kicking is what I like and It boosts my confidence.

How does it feel to come out of the tunnel?

It hypes me up knowing my supporters are at the end of the tunnel, cheering me on knowing we're gonna take the dub.
