Player Profile: Paola Sessaty

A.D. Ibarra

-Eagle Pass High School

One of the players Coach Izanelly Jimenez is going to miss next season is a true leader and a highly dominating player.

This young lady has a knack for taking over a match, both on offense and defense.

Our Profile Series subject let the visiting LBJ Wolves have it in a way this reporter calls 'Death From Above' where you let the opposing team have it and let their plastic surgeons deal with it.

I give you Eagle Pass Outside Hitter Paola Sessaty.

First of all congratulations for being selected Player Of The Week by your Coach. What can you tell our readers about last week's game and your performance?

As my day went by and the hour got closer I felt more and more anxious. I stepped onto the court and the anxiousness went away I told myself, “It’s just another normal game.” The anxiety went away and excitement kicked in. I played as if it was the last game of the season, as if it was my last opportunity to show the crowd what I’ve got.

What position do you play? What's your jersey number?

I am an outside hitter my number is #6.

What are your parents names? Siblings?

My mom’s name is Paula Sesatty, my dad’s name is Jesus Sesatty, my brother’s name is Memo, and my sister’s name is Jackie.

Who do you look up to? Who are your heroes?

I look up to my mom in many perspectives.

What's your career highlight?

My favorite highlight is getting 28 kills against LBJ.

Who's your favorite college team?

UT Austin Volleyball.

Offense or defense, it's up to you, give me your favorite play during a match?

Offense, Hose Shoot to the outside Ouuu!

Why do you like this kind of play, what do you do? What's your

responsibility?

This is basically just a faster offense, I like this play because it leaves me all to myself which is how I get my kills.

Any hobbies?

Some of my hobbies are hiking, dancing, out of school sports, and painting.

Favorite food?

I love pasta, pizza, and tacos.

What makes a good teammate?

A good teammate constantly shows a positive and energetic attitude. Positivity will transfer to the other members on the team.

Talk to me about

your Coach.

Coach Jimenez is one of the most encouraging coaches I have ever had. She’s tough on every single one of her players not only because that’s her job but because she believes and knows the potential we all have.

What's on your playlist?

I have rap music, reggaeton, banda, country anything you want I’ll have, I have various types of music but Spanish music is my favorite.

What advice would you give a young lady playing volleyball for the first time?

Don’t put to much pressure on yourself. It’s a tough sport to learn so take it one step at a time. Remember you’re only as strong as your weakest player. Work hard and never give up.

What do you think of when you hear our fight song?

It makes me think and remember that I’m playing to represent our school.

Who’s your favorite female athlete ?

As of right now my favorite female athlete is Macayla White, she went from nothing to playing at UT and is now in Puerto Rico playing professionally.
