The stadium was at full capacity.

The atmosphere was electric. It was the rivalry game between the undefeated Carrizo Springs Wildcats and The Crystal City Javelinas.

The intense noise caused a delay of game penalty on The Wildcats. That’s how loud it was.

Quarterback Evan Castellanos connected with Austin Reyes. Then a QB keeper but Adrian Gutierrez was there for the stop.

A reverse to Reyes got the Cats a first down to the CC 21. Then a pass to CJ Zuvia for another first down into the Red Zone. Crystal City would make a big goal line stand to halt the drive temporarily, but Giovanni Gonzalez went for it on fourth down and Castllanos would conect with RIvera for the touchdown. The Dominick Hernandez extra point was good and The Cats led early.

A great return by #2 Adrian Gutierrez set The Javs up in good field position, but The Wildcats were too much and they continue their dream season at 9-0 with a big showdown against The Hondo Owls this Friday.

“Hondo is a School with a lot of tradition they have a good running back as well as a good quarterback. Their linemen are a decent size and very physical up front,” said Coach Giovanni Gonzalez.

“They played Bandera last week and won the game 20 to 10.Their only loss comes against Devine by a score of 33 to 14.”

“Our playoff scenario would be; we win out against Hondo on Friday we are district champs.”

“We will be facing the fourth place team from District 16 for a D-2 playoff versus Port Isabel.”
