This ladies and gentlemen was a shootout.
Nathan Molina opened up the scoring with another incredible rush of 60 yards with 2:21 left in the first quarter. The extra point was good, 7-0 Panthers.
Then it was Caleb Dunbar on a 15 yard TD run with 4:30 left in the half. The extra point failed.
Molina did it again and instead of singing Britney's "Oops, I Did it Again" he preferred Tiffany's "I Think We're (Or I'm) Alone Now" as he disappeared from the Cowboy defense for a 90 yard TD run with no time left in the half! This touchdown was set up by a Saul Rivera interception in the end zone.
Then it was Jacob Dueñez Who recovered a fumble, but the Cowboys finally got a stop, then it was another superstar of this league, #10, Ricardo Garcia, with a great 45 yard TD run to make the score 19-12 and we had ourselves a game.
Then Molina broke off a run up the middle for a64 yard touchdown to make it 25-12.
Garcia did sing the Britney tune because he did it again, this time from 46 yards to make it 25-18, then he had to try to chase down Molina and almost did, but not before he extended the Panthers lead to 32-18 after the Nathan Ortiz extra point.
Then it was another star of the league, Gio Gutierrez on a 50 yard touchdown. Garcia ran it in to make it 32-25, but it wasn't over yet.
Who else, but Ricardo Garcia to the Cowboys rescue to bring them within one point at the end of the game, the extra point would send us to overtime and the ball was in good hands, no Mr. Mike Garcia, it wasn't Allstate, it was big Nacho Hernández, but it literally took the entire Panther front seven to stop him and the extra point for the win in this, the game of the season.
I tell you, come out and support youth football in Eagle Pass! You'll be glad you did.
