I give you CC Winn Maverick Defensive End Santiago Garcia.
First of all congratulations for being selected Player Of The Week by your Coach. What can you tell our readers about last week's game and your performance?
First of all, I want to thank everyone who came to support the game. Especially, everyone I consider family. Last weeks game was disappointing because I hate losing when I'm giving it my all on the field, blood and pain is temporary that's why this week hopefully we come out with the win. My performance felt pretty good on the field. I was doing my job on the line, taking blocks and getting tackles giving it my all.
What position do you play?
Defensive End
What's your jersey
number?
My number is #67.
Who do you look up to? Who are your heroes?
I look up to my dad who passed away this past February fighting PTSD. He is My hero because everyday he would go around town fixing other people’s cars, even if they couldn’t afford to pay him. He is my hero because of the loving and giving heart he had towards his community. From his challenges with PTSD, he vowed to help others by forming a group in Eagle Pass called, "The Veteran Ruck Warriors”. My dad was loved and will forever be loved.
What's your career
highlight?
My career highlight was a sack fumble vs Crystal City. Coaches put the "Towers" package in to bring pressure, so when the ball was snapped I beat the guard and when the Quarterback was going to throw; I swiped his hand making him fumble and taking him down with me.
Who's your favorite
NFL player?
My favorite NFL player is Demarcus Ware
Favorite NFL team?
I would have to say the Cowboys because of my dad.
College team?
Michigan State
Offense or defense, it's up to you, give me your favorite play the way it's called in the huddle?
My favorite play is called "Towers"
Why do you like this play, what do you do? What's your responsibility? Towers is my favorite play because going in with all the brothers I practice with, day in and day out just gives me the confidence that us D-ends are going to go all out every play. Our job during Towers is basically put pressure on the Quarterback so he can either throw a pick or get sacked.
What makes a good
teammate?
I think what makes me a good teammate is that I am selfless. I am always thinking of helping our underclass get better for their senior season. I also motivate my team about playoffs, not only for a promise to my dad but to give our team a reason to Fight.
What's on your playlist?
My playlist consist of suicide boys for pre-game and for a daily basis I listen to Fivefold.
What do you think of when you hear our fight song?
It gives me flashbacks from when I was in elementary going to my brothers games on Friday nights , seeing the big hits and the speed of the game.
How does it feel to come out of the tunnel?
When I come out of the tunnel all I'm feeling is the intensity from all the supporters we have on the bleachers and on the sidelines like the cheer team. It Fuels me.
