Player Profile: Jaime Barrientos
A.D. Ibarra
-CC Winn High School
Hello sports fans, it's time for another edition of our Player Profile Series, and it's time for another edge rusher. This young man is special for a couple of reasons. Both his parents, Liza and Jaime were my students at The Home of The Original Mavericks, Ray Darr Elementary, deep in the heart of The Southside.
His parents remind me of the days when I arrived and was given the football team fifteen seconds after my arrival. These kids had never won a game in the short history of the school. But you know, they just needed someone to believe in them.
Not only did we win our first game, against the hardest team in the league at the time, Glass Elementary with their star quarterback Eric Villaseñor, we went 9-0. An amazing feat for an amazing group of kids.
Well the cycle has come full circle. Now the kids of my kids are excelling on the high school gridirons. This defensive end is racking up the sacks as we speak.
I give you Maverick Defensive End Jaime Barrientos.
