If you look for a positive in the game between the Eagles and the CC Winn Mavericks, it would have to be that the purpose of the field which would be built to be able to handle a crowd of this magnitude served its purpose.  If you didn't get there early, that may have been an issue, but the task at hand was the game between the Eagles and the Mavericks and this is how it went down:

San Antonio, TX – After an initial investigation that found voting irregularities across the Texas 23rd Congressional District, due to the prohibitively large size and scope of a full investigation and recount that would take too much time for the people of the district, Congressman Canseco called to congratulate Representative-Elect Pete Gallego.

“Today I spoke with Representative-elect Gallego and congratulated him on a hard fought campaign.  I wish him the best of success in serving the extraordinary people of the 23rd Congressional District.  During the past several days, we have continued to investigate and discover voting irregularities during this election.  While there is no doubt there were improperly counted votes and improperly cast ballots, a full investigation and recount would be prohibitively expensive and time consuming.  It has been a great honor to serve the people from San Antonio to El Paso and I thank them for having allowed me the privilege of being their voice in Congress.” Said Congressman Canseco.

The San Luis Cardinal Connection Inferno culminated their 2012 football season with an exciting come from behind win over the Mancha Mustangs last Saturday at legendary Rodger's Field.

The Inferno went on top early with two scoring drives engineered by QB Ruben Ramos to exceptional tight end Mario "The Red Rocket" Barrientos who made the score Inferno 14, Mustangs 0 early.

The Inferno were driving again at the end of the first quarter when QB Diego Ibarra came in to start the second with a picture-perfect option to his left where he found a streaking Alexander Reyna for the third Inferno touchdown, the extra point was good making the score 21-0.

It was here when Elias Salas, the talented scat back for the Mustangs took over scoring on a straight run to the left side for the first Mustang score, the extra point was good to make the score 21-7.

German Velasquez scored just before the half on a pass from Salas and the PAT was also good making the score Inferno 21-Mustangs 13.

In the third quarter, Salas came right back out to try to get the Mustangs the lead and he did just that with two quick scores to put the Mustangs up 26-21!

It was in the fourth quarter, down 26-21 that the Cardinal Connection came back late with an exceptional drive that culminated in a touchdown pass from Diego Ibarra to Alexander Reyna for the game winner!  The PAT was good to Reyna again and the Inferno took the victory 28-26.  An exceptional  end to a great game and a bittersweet end to another City of Eagle Pass Parks and Recreation Department  Football season.

Isaias Ramirez, Javier Cerda, Diego Ibarra and Mario Barrientos were named to the All-Star team, but only two Inferno players (Ramirez and Cerda) were selected to play in the big game on Thursday which was won by the National team of the Eagles, the Bobcats, the Nightmare, the Stallions and the Cardinals 6-0.
