EPJ outlasts Memorial 26-19 behind Sesatty's 10

On Mon. Nov. 19 EPJ played host to Memorial Jr High. It was the opener for both teams. EPJ outlasted the Lady Mavericks by a score of 26-19. Scoring for the Lady Eagles were wingman Jackie Sesatty with 10 points, Pamela Inclan contributed 5, Kayla Sepulveda and Miryam Salinas had 4, Bianette Rodriguez dropped 2 and Anissa Garcia scored 1 on an excellent free-throw. Coach Robert Espinoza’s Lady Eagles are 1-0 on the young season and host Del Rio Blue on Wed. December 5th.

In an effort to give its customers the best service, a second location has been opened for 2B Liquors, specialists in the sale of wine, liquors and beer. Billy Berain, proprietor, said that this is his second location, the first is at 1990 Main Street and the second location is at 3066 El Indio Highway on the south side of Eagle Pass. He said his business has opened a new locale to better serve its customers who are looking for bottles of whiskey, vodka or tequila, but may not want to go all the way downtown or to Piedras Negras. Bottles of high-end liquor such as Buchanan's, Johnny Walker, or Crown Royal can all be found on the shelves of 2B Liquors. 2B also carries fine tobaccos and cigars for special tastes. Berain says he appreciates his clientele who have told him he has very competitive prices and that they like the service they receive. They also have gift packages available for special occasions. New suspects are coming up in the gasoline fraud case by the City of Eagle Pass which is the case in which gasoline cards issued to city employees were used to steal fuel and money from the City. In the most recent information received from the Eagle Pass Police Department, Chief Juan Antonio Castañeda said that a car lot is also under investigation in which the cards may have been used to charge gasoline to the vehicles on the lot. The chief mentioned that as of yet there are no more details which can be released to the media at this time, but it is sure that more and more persons will be involved. Eagle Pass detectives and FBI agents are working hand in hand on this case and they will be traveling to Del Rio to discuss details with federal agents to see what advances have been made on this issue. This has been one of the most intriguing cases in recent memory which has raised the interest of local citizens. They are hoping to bring all details to light and all involved to justice as they are especially looking to gain restitution for the gasoline and money stolen. Five people have been formally charged in this case, yet authorities know many more are involved in this theft and they will be charged as well as soon as the Grand Jury provides their names and identities.
