Bridge traffic continued to increase in 2017

The Eagle Pass Bridge System has reported that the total amount of crossings in 2017 surpassed 2016 by a whopping 33,868. 2017 saw 3,467,327 crossings, a significant rise from 2016 which had 3,433,459 total crossings.

Chief of Police Alberto Guajardo and the Eagle Pass Police Department would like to take this opportunity and with the citizens and community of Eagle Pass a safe and happy Halloween night.

 

The police department would like to emphasize safety at all times during the hours that our children and citizens are conducting "Trick or Treat" activities. The hours set forth for "Trick or Treat" activities will be from:

 

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017

 

Police Department personnel will be enhanced for this year's events as it has been in previous years in order to provide a safe environment for our citziens to conduct Halloween activities.

 

The police department recommends the following safety tips for all those children and adults "Trick or Treating":

 

• Always walk with an adult

•Make sure you look both ways before crossing the street

•Wear a costume with visible colors or stick reflective tape on your costime

•Stay on sidewlaks and off the streets

• Respect other people's property

•Ask parents to check candy before you eat it 

•Carry a flashlight or glow stick to be visible at night

• Costumes should not cover eyes or restrict vision or breathing

• Only visit houses with porch lights on
• Plan your "trick or treat" route before you leave the house
• Cross street at corner ONLY
• NEVER run across the street
