Eagle Pass
Eagle Pass women are invited to voluntarily donate their hair which can be used to fabricate wigs for cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy treatments. This noble cause is being organized by Ana Ortiz with the support of various groups and health organizations who are trying to collect as much human hair as possible to be able to help as many people as possible. Women with long hair who are looking for a new look for the new millennium are asked to come by on Sunday September 30th at the Fort Duncan Park area where the Bi-national Health Fair will be underway where there will also be a bicycle race in coordination with this event as well as a walk-a-thon. In Eagle Pass, there are many cases of cancer and many of these cases result in extreme hair loss which affects the self-esteem of these patients. The wigs provided by organizations such as this help boost their morale and self-esteem to assist them in leading somewhat normal lives or at least a semblance thereof for the period which they undergo radiation therapy. Those women who graciously come out to donate some of their hair, which will eventually grow back, yet will mean so much to the lives of cancer patients in our area, a coupon will be given to you to take to the salon of your choice in order to get a modern hair-do by a professional in the style of your choice.
