The Quemado Public Library Board of Directors, cordially invites the public to attend the presentation of a grant award from Texas Rural Communities, Inc. of Buda, TX. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Public Library in Quemado.

Carmen Vasquez, Library Director for the Quemado Public Library informed The News Gram that the grant award will be presented to the Quemado Public Library by Ms. Sandra Tenorio, Executive Director with the Texas Rural Communities along with Mr. Enrique Montalvo, former Federal Programs Director and now TRC board member. 

This grant will benefit our entire community by providing computer upgrades and replacements to access our library's public computer network.

 Thank you, H-E-B!  The Texas-based grocery company awarded the Eagle Pass Education Foundation (EPEF) a $25,000 donation.  For a second consecutive year  the store has matched their donation to the EPEF awarding a grand total of $50,000 to the non-profit foundation.

Cuando pensamos en las agencias de la ley y sus oficiales que a diario arriesgan sus vidas en la línea para la seguridad y la seguridad de los ciudadanos de Eagle Pass, Condado de Maverick y en todo Estados Unidos, muchas veces nos llevan a estos oficiales y sus actos desinteresados.

En 2005, uno de nuestros  oficiales de la ley ,   Eric Jay Van Fossen murió en el cumplimiento del deber  tanto él junto con los 19,000 agentes que han sido asesinados desde el 1971.

The Eagle Pass Eagles had to battle the elements as well as battling the pesky Harlingen South Hurricanes, and the hurricane was not the issue, the venue was as Tejada Field was too wet to be used and the game had to be moved to the Spring Sports Complex at Burbank.

The problem was that Ben Bolt and Ozona already had the park and the Eagles and Huricanes had to wait, much like the entire city of Eagle Pass had to wait until 11:30 PM in 1988 for the game between the '88 Eagles and the Abilene Cooper Cougars after the State Tournament games that year kept being pushed back at Disch-Flak Stadium.
