Elections will be held in November as four positions are up this year on the EPISD Board of Trustees.
Two of these positions are presently being held by appointees as is the case with both Hilda Martinez Caballero and Benjamin Rodriguez III who have been productive and active members of the board.

The Eagle Pass News Gram recently participated in a statewide forum with Senator John Cornyn in reference to the ever-growing issue of unaccompanied minors who are being apprehended more and more every day and which continues to put an enormous burden on local, state and federal agencies.
"I know with the bad news in Iraq and concern over what's happening in the Middle East and Syria and elsewhere, unfortunately the story of the humanitarian disaster occurring along our Southwestern border is not getting the attention that I think it deserves," stated the senator, "Last week we spoke of the 10's of thousands of children flooding into Texas on the dangerous and sometimes fatal journey on what is being called 'The Beast' (Which is the name of a book by a Salvadorian journalist on the issue) describing the train ride from southern Mexico across the Guatemalan border into Northern Mexico. This of course is the corridor controlled by the drug cartels."

While the Riverwalk, Commerce, the Southside of San Antonio like SW Military and Zarzamora were going ballistic over the Spurs incredible championship run, Eagle Pass Spurs fans did not stay far behind showing their Spurs Spirit all up and down Main Street.
Uvalde, Texas – Southwest Texas Junior College President Dr. Hector Gonzales, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Dr. Cheryl Sanchez, and Dean of the College of Applied Sciences Juan Guzman have recognized 238 students for academic excellence during the 2014 spring semester.
A total of 108 students were honored by earning recognition on the President’s List. This academic honor is bestowed upon students who maintained a 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in at least 12 hours.

U.S. Representative Pete P. Gallego (D-Alpine) this week welcomed a group of 60 students from Eagle Pass Independent School District to the nation’s capital. The students spent three days in Washington, D.C., where they toured the White House, U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument and Smithsonian Museums.
