The citizens of Maverick County have heard the complaints and personal attacks on Maverick County Auditor Fidencio Ortiz by both County Commissioner Roberto Ruiz and Maverick County Judge David Saucedo to any and every news media representative they could about how they could not complete projects, always alleging that Ortiz couldn't complete the paperwork, that Ortiz didn't have his reports ready every month, that they could not get funding from the state and that millions of dollars had been lost for these projects which our county is so much in need of. Last week, three judges had do get together to decide 2 for to 1 against of not renewing his contract letting him go in favor of Sandra Watkins as the new auditor for the county.
We are sure that the district judges decided to give her the position because she is qualified to do this job.
The citizens of Maverick County hope that both Roberto Ruiz as well as Judge Saucedo can have everything ready to request the funds from these programs in the next three to six months to get the funding to pave these streets in the most needy colonias in our county as well as others that are in serious need of repair.
This way we will be able to see if it was really Mr. Ortiz' fault or if it was simply a political ploy to get rid of him in order to place the blame on someone other than themselves for the financial problems of Maverick County.
