DEL RIO, Texas –
U.S. Border Patrol agents working in the Del Rio Sector seized more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated value of more than $895,000 in three different incidents.
“The men and women of the Del Rio Sector Border Patrol remain vigilant and go above and beyond the call of duty,” said Rodolfo Karisch, Chief Patrol Agent, Del Rio Sector. “I commend our agents for their hard work and dedication in protecting our nation’s borders.”

Eagle Pass Police Chief Albert Guajardo proudly introduced the latest nine members of Eagle Pass' finest at a ceremony held on Thursday at City Hall.
These officers have been training and have already been admitted to the department," sated the chief, "However, we needed them to pass through two more of the final phases of their training which included twelve weeks of on-the-job training in order for them to become familiar with the streets, the policies of the EPPD and our method of communications as part of a 90 day probationary period."
The rollover of a US Border Patrol vehicle on Friday morning alerted Maverick County Sheriff's Deputies to a location on FM 1021 near Cinco Ranch. Deputies were dispatched to FM 1021 by the Cinco Ranch in reference to a rollover accident. Upon arrival, deputies observed a United States Border Patrol unit in the brush area.

District Attorney Roberto Serna confirmed that on August 31, 2015 in Zavala County, Texas, Jaime Gilberto Jilpas pled guilty to the felony offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance- Cocaine, and was sentenced to six years confinement in prison.
The Maverick County Hospital District held an emergency meeting which according to Acting Chairman JM Farias, had originally been scheduled for August 31st, however, due to the lack of a quorum, the meeting had to be held on this day in order to comply with state law.

Incidents of domestic violence continue to raise their ugly head in our community as a female made a report to the Maverick County Sheriff's Department on Thursday.
According to a press release from the Maverick County Sheriff's Department, a female complainant arrived at the Sheriff's Department to report that at approximately 4:00 AM this morning, her husband began to argue with her for known reasons.
The complainant further stated that in the midst of the argument, her husband pushed her against the wall, grabbed her from her arms, and pushed her to the ground.
The complainant further stated that he then began to strike her in the facial area and arms several times.
Diputados acuden a caso de Violencia Doméstica
Los incidentes de violencia doméstica continúan en nuestra comunidad ya que una mujer hizo un informe al Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Maverick el jueves que fue atacada por su esposo.
De acuerdo con un comunicado de prensa del Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Maverick, una mujer llegó al Departamento del Sheriff para informar que aproximadamente a las 4:00 horas de esta mañana, su marido comenzó a discutir con ella por razones desconocidas.
El demandante señaló además que en medio de la discusión, su marido la empujó contra la pared, la agarró de los brazos y la empujó al suelo.
El demandante afirmó además que luego comenzó a golpearla en la zona facial y brazos varias veces.
