Sam Juve, Humberto "Beto" Garza and Araceli Cordova of the all new Plains Capital Bank of Eagle Pass were on hand on Wednesday to graciously donate a check on behalf of their home office who, according to Juve, have expressed a serious commitment to the community, "We appreciate the activity we've had with the Hospital District for the past 25 years and we present this check to the Hospital District because we know what it takes to take care of increasing medical costs." CEO Elcira Bares thanked the group of bankers and the personnel at Plains Capital Bank for their generous donation. Board Chairman Juan Manuel Farias joined Bares in showing his appreciation stating that they will put the funds to good use.

It was a cool Monday morning on the day Ancira Ford-Chrysler-Jeep Dodge-Ram in Eagle Pass opened its doors behind the bold leadership of Werner Johnson who informed The News Gram of the fact that they do so with 55 new employees under three roofs (including the service station) at the new complex located at 4039 Adams Circle off of Highway 57 as you come into Eagle Pass. The 10 million dollar project boasts an ample new service center which will be more than enough to provide the most efficient, comprehensive customer service under one roof in the whole of South Texas.

When The Eagle Pass News Gram hit the stands on Sunday it was with a cover tinged with history. Not only was it the issue which highlighted a new era in law enforcement with the coming of Albert Guajardo, Eagle Pass' new Chief of police who clearly stated that, as he had mentioned to his superiors and those who were present during his interview, that he would hold true to his quote that he promises to continue, "With many changes" as he embarks in what The Honorable Ramsey English-Cantú, Mayor of the City of Eagle Pass says will be a "New venture in his life." Then there was the historic final sale at Ancira Ford Mercury which moves on to another chapter, a new chapter which shows everyone who visits our fair city that we are on our way up in the way of seeking out modern ventures of economic and technological advancements with their newest Ancira Ford-Chrysler-Jeep Dodge-Ram in Eagle Pass. Our cover was rounded off by yet another first, an event which culminated in the first ever dual Queenship of what many in this area are calling a visionary endeavor and one which this reporter does not know if it has ever happened in this country, the crowning of a same-sex couple in this day and age of animosity and even hatred and bullying toward openly gay, bisexual or trans-gendered individuals in our society when Eileen Hernandez and Jennifer Mijares 'Rounded out the Royal Court' on Friday Night at Foster-Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
