The Maverick County Commissioners Court has named the Roberto Ruiz as the new County Treasurer in a unanimous vote replacing Manuel Reyes who served in this position for 32 years and will retire his place as treasurer on October 31st.

Roberto Ruiz will now be responsible for preparing the payroll for payment of employees and also will work in the area of Human Resources, including reviewing employee benefits.

Roberto Ruiz said he was grateful to the Commissioners Court for the trust they have shown in him to take over as Treasurer and said he will continue the work that Manuel Reyes has done for so many years.

This position of Treasurer is an elected position, one in which Manuel Reyes has won the last nine times, but now decided to retire leaving him two years to finish his term. Roberto Ruiz will be in office at least two years, then the position will go to elections.

Roberto Ruiz has in depth knowledge of how to manage county affairs as he was a commissioner for Precinct 4 in the 80's  and has a history of nearly 33 years as an educator in the Eagle Pass Independent School District. He said he is ready for this new challenge in his career.
