Final Results in & Voters have Spoken

-Eagle Pass

 

The final results are in and Eagle Passans have spoken.  In the presidential race, our president Barack Obama has soundly defeated Mitt Romney 8,302 to 2,171 as official results are yet to be finalized.  President Obama defeated Romney 273 electoral votes to 203 for Mitt Romney.

In the race for US Representative Pete Gallego romped Francisco Canseco 8,039 to 1,748.  Gallego and Canseco were tied at 48% at press time with many counties including Val Verde, Maverick, El Paso, Alpine and parts of San Antonio still coming in.

In the race for State Representative, Alfonso Nevarez defeated Thomas KIncaid by the wide margin of 8,368 to 1,609.

Carlos Uresti defeated Michael Berlanga 7,883 to 1,859 in the race for Texas State Senator for District 19.

In local elections, Claudio Heredia defeated Jose Reyna 5,563 to 3,585 in the race for EPISD Board of trustees Place 1.  Ignacio Saucedo beat Rodolfo Lopez 5,904 to 3,469.  Hector Alvarez defeated both David Riojas and Jesus Casas 4,597 for Alvarez, 3,015 for Riojas and 1,916 for Casas.  Glenna Purcell defeated challengers Tom Cary and Marcos Villalpando by a 3,999 clip to Villalpando's 2,563 and Cary's 2,294.

Humberto Duran, JM Farias and Rica Calderon will be the winners in the race for MCHD Board of Directors if these results stand of 2,923, 2,850 and 2,871 respectively.  Sylvia Serrano garnered 2,196 votes and Lucia Johnson counted on 2,502 votes.

     A horrific accident that left one man dead, his 17 year-old daughter severely injured and at least four others with injuries which also required them to be transported to local and area hospitals occurred on Veteran's Blvd. almost directly in front of the EPISD Language Development Center as Rafael Gustavo Vidal, 47, who was fatally injured was approaching the EPISD Maintenance Department and Transportation parking lot.

In an unprecedented gesture by a corporate sponsor, Brown Chevrolet of Eagle Pass undertook a monumental reward system on Friday at Graves, Henry B. Gonzalez and the EPISD ECC, by giving each and every student who had perfect attendance free pizza.
