HEB launches Primo Picks Quest for Texas Best
HEB has launched its 5th Annual Primo Picks Quest for Texas Best which finds the best food and beverages across the State of Texas.
HEB Representatives are on the hunt for the best that Texans have to offer and will be holding a meeting at the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce located at 400 Garrison St. Wednesday, February, 21, 2018. The meeting will be held from 2pm to 4 pm.
Do you produce a food or beverage in Texas that you think is the best in the state, then enter your product to be part of the 2018 Primo Picks Quest for the Texas Best.
Mark your calendar for this informational meeting, where you can learn more about the quest for the Texas best and how to apply.
Winners will be announced August 10 with the grand prize of $25,000 (and a new Toyota Tundra). First place will win $20,000; second place $15,000; and third place $10,000.
HEB launched this contest in 2014 which has yielded some 240 items to market. Among the winning items/ foods are Huerta’s Texas Gumbo,Jank BBQ Sauce, Bagel Dots, Texas Pie Dough Puck,Creamy Creations Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream, Slaton Bakery's Homemade Vanilla Wafers. Vela Farm's Texas Sweet Tea Jelly and many more.

Austin and Dallas are among 20 North American metropolitan areas being considered for a second headquarters for Amazon, the online retail giant announced Thursday morning.
The cities were among several in Texas that had been competing to lure the company. Competition among cities has been fierce, since Amazon says it plans to invest $5 billion on its new headquarters and create "as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs" in the city it picks.

San Antonio becomes first city in Texas to raise legal age to buy tobacco to 21

San Antonio City Council today approved a new law prohibiting merchants in the city limits from selling tobacco products to anyone under 21 years old.
San Antonio is the first city in Texas to enact such a law. Five states and more than 280 cities in other states have approved similar measures.

Eagle Pass named one of top 10 gateways for trade with Mexico

Eagle Pass was recently ranked fifth in the top 10 United States Gateways for Trade with Mexico by Forbes Magazine.
According to information derived from a study and inquiry made by the magazine, six of the top 10 top ports of entry with the largest amount of bi-national trade between the U. S and Mexico are in the State of Texas; of those six ports, five of them are in the border region.
