Coahuila, Mexico celebrated
the 57th Anniversary of The
Abrazo De La Amistad Ceremony on
Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Eagle
Pass International Bridge No. 1.
Public officials and hundreds of
members from both communities
met at the international boundary
line to hold a symbolic ceremony
which emphasizes the
friendship, peace, unity, collaboration,
and harmony that
is important for both border
cities to co-exist.
During the ceremony invited
guest speakers addressed the
symbolism and importance that
communication and collaborative
efforts from both sides
mean to continue pushing for growth
for the region.
Both Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras
Mayors Ramsey E. Cantu and
Claudio Bres welcomed all in attendance
and called for continued
unity through the worst and best
of times.
Representatives of the
International Good Neighbor
Council proceeded to introduce
the 2019 inductees to
Mr. Amigo.
Representing Eagle Pass is
Mexican Consulate Ismael
Navejas Macias and
from Piedras Negras Sister Guadalupe
Vastido Ocampo of Casa OMNIA.
After the official presentation of the
honorary Mr. Amigo sashes, both
Navejas Macias and Sister Ocampo
participated in the exchange of the traditional
Abrazo De La Amistad.
Mayor Cantu and Bres vowed to continue
working together in assuring that
both communities continuing thriving
now and into the future.
