SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the slaying of his toddler daughter, whose body was found in a creek days after he disappeared with her.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (bit.ly/1QcQIZ4) that 24-year-old Ryan Lawrence was in jail-issued clothes and shackled during Wednesday's arraignment in city court. He is being held without bail in Onondaga County Jail.
Lawrence was charged with second-degree murder Tuesday after divers found 21-month-old Maddox Lawrence's body in a creek near Syracuse's inner harbor.
Police say they don't have a motive for the slaying.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Maddox on Sunday after Lawrence disappeared with the girl.
Prosecutors say she was likely killed outside Syracuse before Lawrence dumped her body in the creek.
