Eagle Pass City Council did not take action on the incorporation of cameras on traffic lights with a private company who will be in charge of installing said cameras at all major intersections in order for motorists to have a heightened sense of care when driving on Eagle Pass streets. Anyone caught breaking the law and caught by this technology, would subsequently be fined for these infractions with a
letter sent directly to their home.
Chief of Police Tony Castañeda informed The News Gram that City Council considered that more information was needed before they approve the installation of said technology from this company who will be taking a percentage of any and all fines collected by the use of this system.
The issue will be considered in the future, but as of now, the City expects that the private company could give a demonstration of the function of the cameras, which are presently in use in many large cities across the US.
