SURVEYOR IN MAVERICK COUNTY PLEADS GUILTY IN CONNECTION WITH BRIBERY,
KICKBACK AND BID-RIGGING SCHEME
Marcelo Alvarez, a 55-year-old surveyor and consultant from Eagle Pass, faces up to ten years in federal prison
and full restitution to Maverick County after pleading guilty to a bribery charge in connection with an alleged
bribery, kickback and bid-rigging scheme announced United States Attorney Robert Pitman and Acting FBI
Special Agent in Charge Aaron C. Rouse.

Maverick County Retired School Personnel Chairman Gracie Gonzalez has informed The News Gram of the fact that the next meeting of the organization will be held on Tuesday, April 15th at the Compass Bank Conference Room located on 2395 East Main St.
Guest speaker will be Gilbert Gonzalez, EPISD Superintendent and all retired school personnel are invited to attend.
They will be planning the luncheon and the speaker which will mark the closing of the year for the association.
A candle lighting ceremony will be held in honor of Judy Gallegos and Perla Arreaga before the meeting and will be conducted by Peggy Stock.

Un residente de Eagle Pass, Texas estuvo involucrado en un accidente de tráfico esta mañana, como agentes del condado de Maverick fueron enviados a la escena en la autopista 277, a nueve millas al este de Eagle Pass en aproximadamente 6:59 PM.
Diputados llegaron a hacer contacto con el conductor, identificado como Cesar Sierra, de 32 años, quien indicó que él trató de evitar un cruce de venados en la carretera cuando se viró a la derecha y chocó con una barrera de protección.

The program provides courses and services to help migrant students earn high school credits without limitations of time or distance. The graduation program meets the needs of migrant students who face unique challenges and unavoidable educational circumstances when they migrate throughout the state and sometimes throughout the country.

The Candles for Life Organization held their monthly meeting at their new headquarters at the Maverick County Hospital District Building on Thursday afternoon and the main item on the agenda was the sharing of ideas as to how to begin as early as possible to raise funds for the annual campaign which is held each October.
