Your Am-Mex Swarm are now 3-0 on the young ABA season with a convincing 128-115 victory over the Hill Country Stampede.

The Swarm, who are coached by former San Antonio Spurs legend Johnny Moore opened up the scoring early dropping 31 points to the stampede's 17 in the first quarter to pull away before watching the visitors pull to within six at the half before a good crowd in Piedras Negras' Santiago V. Gonzalez Auditorium.

The third quarter of action saw both teams attempting to establish some semblance of balance on both sides of the court with neither team backing down as the two squads ended the third quarter practically at a deadlock with the black and gold ahead 93-92.

The CC Winn Mavericks dropped games to Navarro and to Nixon-Smiley over the week according to Head Basketball Coach JT Sanchez.

On Thursday, December 11th, the Mavericks squared off with the Navarro Bulldogs and came up short 46-50 in a pretty close game.

Down 9-12, the Mavericks outscored Navarro 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 22-18 lead into the locker rooms at the half.

Winn was outscored 17-2 in the third quarter which proved to be the difference in the game.

The San Luis Cardinals are your 2014 Division II Football Champions once more according to Juan Cuellar, Eagle Pass PARD Supervisor.  

The HBG Bobcats came in second and your Rosita Valley Roadrunners placed third.

In Division III it was Jesse Medina's Liberty Eagles taking first place this season and going undefeated while Katrina Harper's new-look OLOR Raiders took second and the Fightin' San Luis Cardinals came in third.

In Division II Girl's Volleyball, Eagle Threat from Liberty Elementary are your 2014 City Champions, the Lady Miners of Seco Mines came in second, the Lady Spikers of Graves were third and The News Gram's favorite team name, the Cerna Storm placed fourth.

After losing to Del Rio in the championship at the Melba R. Tournament this weekend, the Eagles 7th -A team regrouped and gave Del Rio a good old-fashioned beat down in a 45-34 victory.  

The entire defense came up big, but some key players on offense were Allan Rodriguez 7 pts., Matt De Alba 7pts, Diego Faz (did not play last 2 games) 8 pts., Jose Zuniga 9 pts., and Alex Martinez had a very impressive all around game and contributed 10 pts. of his own.  The Eagles face the Maverick on Monday at the SAC and expect to continue adding to the success they've had this season with their new Coach Ricardo Rodriguez.

        The Awesome Athletics Panther cheer squad won the right to compete at Disneyworld after placing at the UCA Southwest Regionals in San Marcos last Saturday.

The competition was held on the campus of Texas State University where thirty to thirty five squads descended on the school to compete for top honors.

According to gym owner Kevin Pitasi, the honor bestowed on the Panthers only went to two teams in the competition for their 2 1/2 minute routine.

"We're super proud of them.  Most of them started last year and they have worked super, super hard," said Pitasi, "I really don't have the words to express how proud we are."

The participants are Miranda Almaguer, Dylan Cantu, Kalista Espinoza, Karyme Flores, Alexia Gaitan, Amy Galvan, Claudia Garza, Julieta Garza, Aylin Gonzalez, Judith Huitron, Belen             Olivares, Brizza Ovalle, Alize Ramon, Ayleen Rivas, Leslie Rodriguez, Maranda Sanchez and Paola Sarabia.

The Panthers will travel to Florida in May of next year at the Junior 14-U level.

En las primeras horas de la mañana del miércoles, un auto modelo Dodge Charger que viajaba a una gran velocidad cruzó Veterans Blvd. el auto se estrelló en un Ford Focus que estaba en el semáforo y viajando hacia el este .                   

El accidente movilizó unidades del Departamento de Policía de Eagle Pass, así como transporte médico de emergencia y paralizó el tráfico en la esquina de la Segunda y Veteranos en un tiempo muy ocupado del día.

El impacto causado por el Dodge Charger que viajaba hacia el oeste por la calle Segunda fue significativo como muestra los restos y las bolsas de aire del lado del conductor se abrieron en ambos vehículos que pueden haber guardado esencialmente la vida de los involucrados.

El conductor del Focus que de acuerdo con el sargento Orlando Escareño era de Musquiz, Coahuila fue trasladado a Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center, mientras   que el conductor del el Dodge Charger podría ser visto sentado en la acera en espera de procesamiento.

Sargento Escareño le informó al News Gram que el accidente sigue bajo investigación y que están pendientes los reportes de toxicología en el controlador como se solicitó a los laboratorios.

Un hombre buscado por asesinato en el condado de Harris hizo una carrera por la frontera el sábado ya que funcionarios del condado de Harris se pusieron en contacto con el Eagle Pass PD para ayudarles en la búsqueda de el fugitivo.

De acuerdo con el sargento Orlando Escareño, José Guadalupe Guerrero, de 45 años de edad, pudo haber escapado de Houston desde el sábado ya que el camión que conducía fue localizado en el estacionamiento de una tienda local.

Condado de Harris, el uso de un dispositivo de seguimiento colocada en el vehículo del acusado, corrió un cheque por satélite en el vehículo del Guerrero que volvió con la ubicación.

A man wanted for murder in Harris County made a run for the border on Saturday as Harris County officials contacted Eagle Pass PD to assist them in the search for the individual.

According to Sergeant Orlando Escareño, Jose Guadalupe Guerrero, 45, may have escaped from Houston as early as Saturday as the pickup truck he was driving was located in the parking lot of a local department store.

Harris County, using a tracking device affixed to the vehicle of the defendant, ran a satellite check on Guerrero's vehicle which came back with the location.

When EPPD officers arrived, they located the vehicle which had been parked at Wal-Mart and proceeded to search the store for the fugitive.

El Departamento de Policía de Eagle Pass ha recibido al menos seis informes de robo de mercancía de correos por parte de personas que alegan que los bienes que habían encargado habían sido robados de sus casas y fueron entregados por el United Parcel Service (UPS) .

En lo que ha sido apenas una semana de la temporada de vacaciones que acaba de comenzar, el Departamento de Policía de Eagle Pass ha recibido seis denuncias de robo de mercancía de correos.

Sgt. Orlando Escareño le informó al News Gram que estan conscientes de que delincuentes de la comunidad se están aprovechando de las ventas en línea en esta temporada y algunos criminales muy inteligentes están encontrando maneras de robar mercancía pedida a través de Internet o por teléfono ya que UPS deja paquetes a las puertas de estos hogares.

The Eagle Pass Police Department has received at least six reports of theft of merchandise from couriers by people who allege that goods they had ordered had been taken from their homes and were delivered by the United Parcel Service (UPS) courier company.

In what has been a short one week of the holiday season which has just begun, the Police Department Eagle Pass has received six reports of theft of merchandise from couriers.

Sgt. Orlando Escareño informed The News Gram that they are aware that people in the community are taking advantage of online sales this holiday season and some very clever criminals are finding ways to steal merchandise ordered via Internet or by phone as UPS leaves packages at the doors of these homes.
