State Representative Pete Gallego made a campaign stop in Eagle Pass on Wedneday evening at The Charcoal Grill. The event was a gathering of local dignitaries, businesspeople, educators, community leaders, attorneys, financiers and members of the mass media. "The campaign is progressing well," stated Gallego who would be hitting San Antonio on Thursday, "There's a lot of energy and enthusiasm as you can see at this event this evening, we have representatives from all walks of life in this room. That's what I've always liked about Eagle Pass we all pull together for the common good." Gallego was able to garner the support he needed in Eagle Pass and throughout South Texas defeating a very strong Ciro Rodriguez in a disputed primary and an equally competitive run-off in July. The turnout, although low for the amount of registered voters in Maverick County, was very good in comparison to the rest of South Texas, according to Victor Perry, Democratic Chair in Maverick County.
