She will wear the crown at all events related to the Fourth of July celebrations held across the city this week as we honor our country and our fighting forces over seas on the birthday of our nation.
On Wednesday, a parade will be held in downtown Eagle Pass and on Saturday will be the grand festival which will take place at Shelby Park where thousands of Eagle Passans are expected to attend.
Priscilla Perez was coronated Miss Liberty.  Kristy Benavides and Sara Garza also participated in the pageant.
In the children's category, Michell Lynn Torralba was coronated Little Miss 4th of July and Marichel Hernandez was named Little Miss Liberty.
There was a large crowd of onlookers and spectators at the event as they crowded into the Multi-Purpose Center to witness the pageant in all its gallantry. A panel of judges made the final decision as to who would be representing our city at the Fourth of July festivities all week long.
Congratulations to all participants, winners and their parents.

Tornado-force winds, hail, storm hit Carrizo Springs

Saturday, 21 July 2012 01:24 Published in July 2012

A severe weather system ravaged the community of Carrizo Springs last night at approximately 12:30 A.M. as 40-100 MPH winds, hail, and rain felled light poles, ripped roofs off of buildings, businesses and homes as tin roofs flew by dangerously on the streets of Carrizo and debris was scattered all along Hwy 277.
"At about 12:30, we looked out and saw tin roofs flying down the street and then we saw a tree break behind our home and a portable building was carried two blocks ending up on the lot next door," stated Adriana Ibarra, who along with her husband David, weathered the storm from their home at 700 Peña St. and said it lasted a good half hour, "That's when we heard the giant pine tree on our front yard fall through our roof, knocking down our chimney and putting a hole in our ceiling, thank God it fell to the side of the house."
