U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were active over the weekend in intercepting undeclared money, narcotics and a weapon with ammunition in two separate enforcement actions at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

“This interception of dangerous drugs, a weapon and undeclared money exemplifies the teamwork of our officers working at our port, all in a day’s work,” said Port Director John Brandt, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

CBP officers at the Eagle Pass International Bridge inspected a 1999 Ford Mustang, driven by a 30-year-old man from Lamar, Colorado, during outbound operations. After further inspection, officers found $16,152 undeclared U.S. currency in a bag concealed under the passenger seat of the vehicle. Officers also found 5.5 grams of alleged cocaine in a plastic bag, 6.4 grams of alleged crystal methamphetamine in a plastic bag, 5.3 grams of alleged cocaine in a plastic bag, 17.3 grams of alleged cocaine in 54 capsules and 1.5 pills of Oxycodone. The driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigations. CBP officers seized the vehicle, narcotics and the undeclared U.S. currency.

Also over the weekend, CBP officers at the Eagle Pass International Bridge seized a handgun, ammunition and vehicle during outbound inspections.

The Office of Field Operations is the primary organization within U.S. Customs and Border Protection tasked with an anti-terrorism mission at our nation’s ports. CBP officers screen all people, vehicles and goods entering the United States while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel. Their mission also includes carrying out border-related duties, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration and trade laws, and protecting the nation's food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases.
