School board takes district-wide tour of campuses

The Eagle Pass Independent Board of Trustees held a special meeting Monday and Tuesday as part of the district-wide tour to gather information on how extra funding to come from the recently approved tax rate should be dispersed.
Judge orders County to hold rollback election
District Judge W.C. Kirkendall ordered that a Writ of Mandamus be issued requiring the Maverick County Commissioners Court to hold a rollback election no less than 30 or 90 days from the date of the declaratory judgement made Monday, June 12.
Maverick County’s heated debacle with taxpayer Felan over the Maverick County 2016 adopted tax rate is expected to continue as the county, through its legal counsel, will most likely file an appeal on the declaration through the Texas Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio, Texas.
Voters approve EPISD tax ratification
The Eagle Pass Independent School District Tax Ratification Election came to a close on Saturday with the majority of local voters electing to approve the slight increase.

At the Chamber of Commerce Community Breakfast on Wednesday, May 24, C.C. Winn High School Principal Jesus Diaz-Wever, Eagle Pass Junior High Vice Principal Yolanda Ramon, and Deputy Superintendent for Business and Finance Ismael Mijares stressed the importance of the election.

Polls open for EPISD TRE this Saturday
Polls will be open for the EPISD Tax Rate Election on Saturday, May 20.
From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Multipurpose Center, community members will be able to cast their vote to determine whether or not the proposed tax rate will pass.
Early voting period for EPISD TRE shows low turnout

The Eagle Pass Independent School District Tax Ratification Election (TRE) had a slow start, with only 279 votes cast within the first three early voting days.
Election reports show that 124 votes were cast during the first day of the early voting period on Wednesday, May 10, and 117 votes cast on Thursday, May 11. On Friday at about 1:30 p.m., 38 more ballots had been submitted
