Judge orders County to hold rollback election
District Judge W.C. Kirkendall ordered that a Writ of Mandamus be issued requiring the Maverick County Commissioners Court to hold a rollback election no less than 30 or 90 days from the date of the declaratory judgement made Monday, June 12.
Maverick County’s heated debacle with taxpayer Felan over the Maverick County 2016 adopted tax rate is expected to continue as the county, through its legal counsel, will most likely file an appeal on the declaration through the Texas Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio, Texas.

Maverick County was ordered to hold a tax rate rollback election after testimony was undertaken on the request for summary judgment on matters pursuant to a lawsuit Ethelvina Felan filed against the county government regarding the proposed, and already in place, ad valorem tax rate.
