The EPHS Girls Cross Country team, and individual qualifier Nathan Kowalski were honored with a proclamation from the City of Eagle Pass for qualifying for state Wednesday morning.

The synopsis for 'Macfarland USA', a movie based on a true story about a rag-tag group of kids from a predominantly Mexican-American town who work their way from a serious underdog to winning the California State Cross Country Championship, says cross country is a sport whose "Team's score is calculated by compiling the first five members' overall finishing places. The lowest score wins. It is because of this cumulative effort, with each place having equal importance, that a state-level cross-country team can be forged."
