Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu officially registered his candidacy for re-election to the position of Mayor on Monday, January 23 at the Eagle Pass City Hall with Eagle Pass City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez.
Torralba chooses to forgo re-election
Current EPISD Board Trustee Humberto Torralba released a statement concerning his stance on re-election for his position on EPISD’s School Board. The statement reads as follows:
“After much consideration, my family and I have decided to place focus in another direction. Therefore, I will not be seeking re-election for Eagle Pass Board of Trustees, Place 1 position. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent all areas of EPISD. I am grateful to our community for allowing me the opportunity to serve. As part of this united Board of Trustees, we were able to:
• Implement advancement in college preparation with the creation of the Early College concept to prepare our students for higher education.
• Advance the “Five Year Plan” with new roofing and security.
• Construction of Co-Ed Field Houses for both high schools to address our students’ physical fitness.
• The OnRamps Program: an innovative, rigorous dual-enrollment program with the University of Texas at Austin. The program provides our students with intensive yearlong professional college classroom exposure.
There is still much work to be done and I know our leadership role will continue to shape our community’s educational needs. I wish to thank all those who have addressed concerns and devoted support. I have and will continue to serve as one of your public servants in our local police force.”
Superintendent Gilberto Gonzalez and all of Eagle Pass Independent School District thank Torralba for all he has done for the betterment of the district while on the board, and for his dedication to the community’s safety with the police department. The district wishes him and his family the best in their future endeavors.
Torralba decide no reelegirse en directiva EPISD

Actual miembro de la mesa directiva del distrito escolar Humberto Torralba publicó una declaración sobre su postura sobre la reelección de su posición del EPISD. La declaración dice lo siguiente:
"Después de mucha consideración, mi familia y yo hemos decidido colocar el foco en otra dirección. Por lo tanto, no estoy buscando reelección para la directiva del distrito escolar de Eagle Pass , lugar 1. Ha sido un honor y un privilegio representar a todas las áreas del EPISD. Agradezco a nuestra comunidad por permitirme la oportunidad de servir. Como parte de esta directiva, pudimos hacer lo siguiente:
• Avance implementación en preparación para la Universidad con la creación del concepto de Early College para preparar a nuestros estudiantes de educación superior
• Avanzar en el "Plan quinquenal" con seguridad y techos nuevos.
• Construcción de co-Ed casas de campo para ambas escuelas a la dirección física de nuestros alumnos
• El OnRamps Program: un programa innovador, riguroso de doble inscripción con la Universidad de Texas en Austin. El programa provee a nuestros estudiantes de la exposición del aula del colegio profesional de un año entero intensivo.
Hay todavía mucho trabajo por hacer y sé que nuestros lideres seguirán al tanto de las necesidades educativas de nuestra comunidad. Quiero agradecer a todos aquellos que tienen preocupaciones y su dedicado apoyo. Tengo y continuaré sirviendo como uno de sus funcionarios en la policía local."
