State agencies are being asked to cut back on their spending in a big way. 

Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Speaker of the House Joe Straus released a letter in early July asking agencies to begin planning to reduce their budgets by 4 percent as oil and natural gas business continues to decline in the state. These reductions will be taking affect for the 2018-2019 cycle.
