A group of registered voters in Maverick County contacted The News Gram on January 17, stating that they had signed the tax rate rollback petition, but were among the registered voters that had been crossed out off the list, indicating that the Maverick County Elections Office claimed their signatures were invalid.

  Thousands of Maverick County citizens were disappointed to find out months of investigating and collecting signatures in hopes of a tax rollback petition had been in vain.

The fight is not over for the group of Maverick County concerned tax payers who recently petitioned for a tax rollback election, as they continue to petition the $8.5 million loan that the county is currently seeking.
